PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
To provide laundry services (includes linen & uniforms) and ensure the efficient and high-quality laundering of guest linens, staff uniforms, and lodge linens while maintaining hygiene standards and equipment care.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum Grade 12
- 1 year housekeeping\laundry experience in 4* or 5* hotel\lodge or commercial laundry
- Basic knowledge of laundry chemicals and equipment operation."
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Provide support to the Laundry Department when requested ensuring an excellent guest experience.
- Check uniforms for damages, repair if feasible, or recommend sending them to a seamstress.
- Identify linen or uniforms that require repair or special treatment and facilitating immediate action through tailors or Laundry Supervisors.
- Receives, sorts and double checks the condition of all incoming and outgoing linen and uniforms before storage and issuance.
- Receives, sorts and double checks conditions of all linen and uniforms, records all outgoing and incoming from the laundry thoroughly before storing and issuing.
- Separates linen or uniforms that need repair and / or special treatment and forward it to the tailor and/or Laundry Supervisor for immediate action.
- Hands over lost property to the security department, maintain the register and ensures that it is kept safe until claimed and returned.
- Inspect laundry for stains, damages, or other issues before and after the washing process.
- Ensure proper use of laundry chemicals and cleaning agents."
- Collect laundry and dry-cleaning bags from guest rooms and ensure that guest name, room number and laundry pieces are listed.
- Count and verify all items as per the laundry and dry-cleaning lists and record collection and delivery times and special message.
- Report immediately any guest valuables / items found in pockets of clothes sent to laundry.
- Inspect Garments, care label and fabric condition before and after washing and dry cleaning
- Report faulty equipment, damaged garments/linens, shortages, maintenance needs, safety hazards and problems to your supervisor.
- Champion the identification and reporting of hazards, evaluation or risks, and design and implementation of hazard and control measures.
