Purpose of the Position:

The Porter is responsible for creating a memorable first and last impression for guests by delivering exceptional hospitality and guest service. The incumbent welcomes guests on arrival, assists with luggage handling and transportation, responds to guest requests, and ensures that lobby, reception, and forecourt areas are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness and presentation.

Qualifications & Experience:

· Grade 12 plus Higher Certificate qualification

· Minimum 3 years' experience in a Porter, Concierge, or similar Guest Services role within a 4 or 5 hotel/lodge environment

· Valid Code 8 Driver's Licence with PDP

· Knowledge of OPERA or similar Property Management System

· Excellent communication and guest relations skills

· Strong organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure and provide exceptional customer service

 

Key Accountabilities:

· Welcome and assist guests in a warm, professional, and courteous manner at all times.

· Assist guests with luggage handling, transportation, storage, and delivery.

· Escort guests to their rooms and provide information on room facilities and hotel amenities.

· Handle guest enquiries and complaints professionally and ensure prompt resolution or escalation.

· Deliver messages, parcels, flowers, and other guest items efficiently and confidentially.

· Maintain accurate luggage movement, storage, and guest request records.

· Coordinate effectively with Front Office, Housekeeping, Maintenance, and other departments to ensure seamless guest service.

· Monitor and maintain cleanliness and presentation standards in lobby, reception, and surrounding public areas.

· Report safety hazards, unattended packages, suspicious activities, and maintenance issues immediately.

· Uphold company standards, policies, grooming requirements, and service excellence expectations.

· Ensure all equipment used is maintained, accounted for, and stored correctly at the end of each shift.
