PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

 

Take orders and serve food and beverages to patrons at tables in the restaurant outlet and to deliver unforgettable unique guest experience, taking orders, serving food and beverages, and ensuring a smooth and enjoyable dining atmosphere.        

 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

 

  • Grade 12 
  • 1 year Waitron experience at a 4* or 5* hotel
  • Basic math skills for handling payments
  • Knowledge of Food and Beverages
  • Wine knowledge or courses attended will be a distinct advantage

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

 

  • Welcome guests and escort them to their tables
  • Drive hosting culture and maintain a warm and friendly demeanor
  • Present menus and provide detailed explanations of menu items, including specials and promotions.
  • Take accurate food and drink orders, ensuring dietary preferences or restrictions are noted and communicated to the kitchen as well as punching this in on the POS system.
  • Upsell additional menu items, desserts, and beverages to enhance the dining experience and increase revenue
  • Participate in stock takes on all OS&E and movement of assets at all times
  • Communicate dining or order details to the kitchen staff to ensure that orders are prepared correctly and delivered in a timely manner.
  • Process payments accurately, handling cash, credit cards, and electronic payments as needed.      
  • Bring wine selections to tables with appropriate glasses, and pour the wines for guests.
  • Attend to special requests or dietary restrictions from customers and communicate with the kitchen team
  • Keeping an up-to date costings on all beverage menus
  • Be able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Prompt clearing of tables and setting tables for the following guests according to the standard
  • Manage the billing system and ensure accurate billing and cost allocations
  • Remove dishes and glasses from tables or counters, take them to kitchen for cleaning.                     
  • Adhere to food safety and health standards to ensure well-being of guests
  • Adhere to the grooming standard
