PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

To provide technical support in maintaining and repairing of air conditioners, climate control systems, heating equipment, ventilation units and refrigeration equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• Minimum Grade 12.
• Level 3 Qualification in Electrical and Refrigeration Maintenance
• 5 years’ experience as an HVAC Technician.
• Knowledge of Aircon and Refrigeration.
• In-depth knowledge of installation, maintenance, repairs and servicing of different HVAC Systems, including; Chilled water systems, cooling towers, pumps, split units, VRF's/VRV, packaged units, air handling units, multisage evaporative cooling units and ventilation systems
• A valid code B driver license.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Undertakes the preventative maintenance schedule and ensures that all relevant plant and machinery is maintained in accordance with the schedule
• Carry out minor electrical maintenance work, such as repair or replacement of fixtures, including wall switches and outlets, ballast, incandescent and fluorescent tubes and bulbs, fuses, sockets, etc., by applying the right tools.
• Carry out maintenance checks on heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems; clean evaporator drains pans, coils, and filters; lubricate fan and motor bearings; repair and change motors, electrical wiring, belts, compressors, thermostats, fans, floating elements, and defrost timers.
• Assemble and install refrigeration or air conditioning components such as motors, controls, gauges, valves, circulating pumps, condensers, humidifiers, evaporators, and compressors using hand and power tools.
• Measure and cut piping and connect piping using welding and brazing equipment.
• Install, troubleshoot, and overhaul entire heating, ventilation, air handling, refrigeration, and air conditioning systems.
• Ensure all gas requirements are adhered in relation to the kitchen equipment and gas fittings.
• Inspect and maintain workshop environments to ensure tidiness and compliance with 5S principles (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain).
