PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
To maintain farm operations efficiently and ensure adherence to health and safety standards. Support
the farm enterprise by conducting general repair and maintenance tasks, overseeing crop production,
and caring for livestock.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCES:
- 1-2 years’ experience in Farm Machinery e.g. Woodsaw, Tractor, Chainsaw usage and Fire and First Aid training
- Grade 10
- Minimum 1-year experience
- Driver’s License Code B
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Carrying out routine farm work in accordance with business standards and under the instruction of the Repairs and Maintenance Manager.
- Perform general repair and maintenance work on the farm, including electrical, building, welding, plumbing, slurry system, cooling, and water plant works as instructed daily.
- Maintain water holes and boreholes installations.
- Monitor and maintain farm infrastructure, machinery, and non-production areas as instructed, such as checking oil in farm machinery maintaining fences, and general building maintenance.
- Cleaning machinery, monitoring, and recording game.
- Maintain satisfactory environment for the animals such as ensuring clean bedding, water, and shelter.
- Perform pre- and post-trip inspections on the farm fleet every day and accurately complete check sheets.
- Wear the required PPE at all times and follow procedures, reporting safety incidents to the supervisor and team leader immediately.
- Restrain and handle animals in a safe and appropriate manner.
- Operate agricultural and farm vehicles including tractors relevant to the business safely in line with company standard operating procedures.
- Check and maintain farm boundaries.
- Maintain animal or plant health performance, conduct routine tasks and assist with general record keeping practices.
- Always adhere to company code of conduct and house rules.
