PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

 

To manage sound employee commitment, capability and discipline through the regulation of employee/employer relationships. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

 

  • Degree / Diploma in Industrial Psychology/Industrial Relations/Labour Law with at least 3-5 years relevant experience in IR/ER environment of which 1 years in managerial capacity.

 

ADVANTAGEOUS

 

  • Post Graduate or Master’s degree specialising in Industrial Relations

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

 

  • Develop, drive and implement best practices for a sound ER environment.
  • Recommend changes to the Group ER Policy, Procedure and forms.
  • Recommed, advice and facilitate appropriate Labour related strategies for re-engineering.
  • Facilitate counselling processes, record and maintain records for filing.
  • Act as the Liaison officer between management and stakeholders and social partners, e.g. Trade Unions, Employers Federation and the Government.
  • Facilitate AA and ER training, i.e.  Role of the hearing chairpersons, initiators, Employment Equity compliance, relevant policies & procedures, etc.
  • Handling labour matters, e.g. preparations of Con-Arb correspondence and documentations, application for an interdicts or court orders.
  • Assist and advise in Wage Negotiations.
  • Do investigations in consultation with Line Managers and/or ensure that investigations by Line Managers are properly done.
  • Ensure timeous conclusions of ER incidents by executing all actions in compliance to the ER Policy & Procedure.
  • Make sure that disciplinary cases meet the criteria for a disciplinary hearing.
  • Ensure the date, time and venue for the disciplinary hearing is set in terms of policies and procedures.
  • Provide advice to disciplinary hearings to ensure procedural and substantive fairness in the hearing.
  • Make sure that the cases meet the criteria for a grievance.
  • Ensure that the aggrieved follows the proper procedures to resolve the dissatisfaction.
  • Coordinate & facilitate AACC, Shop Steward/Management & Workers Committee/Management meetings.
  • Provide advice to all members regarding Labour Related matters, when required.
