PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

To support the Store Manager in supervising overall store operations across non-fresh departments, inventory management, and store administration, ensuring compliance with company standards, maximising sales, and delivering excellent customer service to drive profitability.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Diploma in Business Administration, Retail Management, or equivalent
    OR
  • National Senior Certificate (Grade 12) with proven retail experience
  • Minimum 3–5 years’ retail experience, of which at least 2–3 years must be in a supervisory role
  • Strong understanding of retail operations and administration
  • Computer literacy (MS Office and retail systems such as Arch)

ADVANTAGEOUS

  • Experience in supermarket/FMCG retail environment
  • Strong financial and stock management understanding
  • Experience with inventory systems and reporting

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Stock Management & Merchandising

  • Ensure optimal stock availability, merchandising, and product quality at all times.
  • Monitor stock movement, shrinkage, and stock reports (overstock, obsolete, availability).
  • Implement and maintain company merchandising and QDVP4 standards.
  • Oversee ordering, promotions, and replenishment of key lines.

 

Administration & Performance Monitoring

  • Monitor daily store and departmental performance against targets.
  • Ensure pricing accuracy and execution of price changes before trading.
  • Manage administrative processes, reporting, and store compliance
  • Support implementation of promotional schedules and operational plans.

 

 

People Management & Leadership

  • Supervise and support team leaders and departmental staff.
  • Assist with staff scheduling, attendance, and labour control.
  • Coach, train, and develop employees in line with Model’s people philosophy.
  • Participate in recruitment, performance management, and discipline processes.

Store Operations (Opening & Closing)

  • Ensure smooth opening and closing procedures in line with company standards.
  • Oversee cash handling, banking, and store security processes.
  • Ensure store readiness, cleanliness, and operational efficiency.

 

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Enforce health, safety, and hygiene standards across the store.
  • Conduct regular inspections and ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
