Purpose
To manage the overall operations and performance of the store by applying sound business principles, strong leadership, and service excellence. The role is accountable for achieving sustainable profitability, operational efficiency, compliance with company standards, and delivering an exceptional customer experience.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree (3 years) / NQF Level 7 in Business Administration, Management or Retail Management.
- National Senior Certificate / NQF Level 4 with a minimum of 8 years’ retail experience, of which 5 years must be at management level.
- Minimum 5 years’ retail management experience.
- Valid Code B Driver’s Licence.
- Computer literacy (MS Office).
Advantageous
- Supermarket retail experience.
- SAP/ARCH system experience.
- Proven knowledge of budgetary control and financial management.
Key Accountabilities
- Drive sales turnover and gross profit through best retail practices and effective execution.
- Achieve and manage monthly budgeted targets.
- Control store costs, expenses, stock losses, and shrinkage.
- Ensure implementation and consistent maintenance of merchandising and QDVP4 standards.
- Maximise gross profit through effective buying, stock management, and product availability.
- Implement innovative business initiatives that drive performance and growth.
- Promote high operational and service standards in line with Model Food service values.
- Attend to customer queries and resolve complaints professionally and timeously.
- Build and maintain sound relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
- Manage stock levels, ordering, deliveries, stock holding days, dormant stock, and FIFO compliance.
- Ensure no damaged or expired products are stocked.
- Oversee all store administration and reporting in line with company procedures.
- Plan, schedule, and manage employee working hours and labour costs.
- Lead, manage, and develop store employees.
- Ensure Health, Safety, food safety, and housekeeping standards are consistently upheld.
- Conduct daily operational inspections and ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
