PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

 

To monitor and operate the hotel’s CCTV system to ensure the safety and security of the property, guests, and staff. The role involves real-time surveillance, incident reporting, and coordination with the security team to prevent and respond to security breaches.

 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

 

  • Minimum Grade 12 plus a higher certificate
  • A certificate in Security Services, police science, or similar will be an added advantage
  • 2 years’ experience as a CCTV operator or in a similar security role
  • Familiarity with CCTV systems, access control systems, and security protocols
  • Experience with conducting investigations will be an added advantage
  • A valid police certificate of conduct not older than 6 months 

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

 

  • Assist guests with security-related inquiries or concerns when required, directing them to the appropriate personnel if necessary.
  • Monitor live CCTV footage of all areas of the hotel, including entrances, exits, public areas, and back-of-house areas, to detect suspicious or unauthorized activities.
  • Identify, investigate, and report security breaches or suspicious activities
  • Operate CCTV equipment proficiently, including switching out videotapes, memory cards, hard drives, or servers.
  • Archive old footage as required and organize archived footage systematically for easy retrieval.
  • Conduct regular checks on CCTV equipment to ensure it is functioning properly and report any technical issues to the security supervisor.
  • Repair CCTV equipment, whether analogue or digital, ensuring all devices function correctly and efficiently
  • Monitor and control access to secure areas within the hotel using CCTV and other access control systems.
  • Communicate effectively with the security team and other departments regarding any security concerns or incidents.
  • Catalog and store CCTV footage accurately according to company policy, ensuring footage is easily retrievable for future reference.
  • Identify and report any suspicious, unusual, or criminal activity to the security supervisor and provide detailed descriptions.
  • Record and log all incidents accurately, including time, location, and details of the event.
