PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

 

To be the first point of contact for restaurant reservations, delivering exceptional guest service in line with O&L Leisure’s “Namibia Through Our Eyes” brand promise. Oversee and coordinate the daily operations of Welwitschia Lounge, Café Mole, and Room Service, ensuring seamless service, memorable guest experiences, and financial sustainability.

 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum National Diploma in Restaurant Management
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in maître d’or hosting, contemporary or fine dining restaurant setup in a 4- and 5-star hotel or lodge.
  • Computer literate (MS Office/Office/Excel/PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of Micros/Opera will be an advantage
  • A wine, sommelier, or beer course will be an added advantage.
  • Reservation experience.
  • Product knowledge and hospitality industry experience
  • Knowledge of budgets, ordering, profit & loss, cost of sales, meeting suppliers, and coordinating stock deals with the manager.
  • Knowledge of HACCP practices and standards

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Handle all event inquiries with accuracy and efficiency, ensuring a seamless guest experience.
  • Oversee event inquiries, quotations, contracting, and execution.
  • Collaborate with central reservations for conference inquiries while managing all event-related bookings at the hotel.
  • Identify and maximize revenue opportunities through proactive sales and upselling.
  • Maintain and update guest profiles in ResDiary and Opera, ensuring accurate records.
  • Ensure timely communication of confirmed bookings via function sheets.
  • Actively promote hotel F&B outlets, weekly specials, and special events.
  • Supervise and lead the Café Mole, Welwitschia Lounge, Banqueting, and Room Service teams, ensuring high performance and service excellence.
  • Support service assistants with daily cash-up and ensure accuracy.
  • Lead pre-service shift briefings to enhance team communication and preparedness.
  • Monitor product availability on all food and beverage menu items in conjunction with the chef and stores.
  • Maintain the budgeted food and beverage cost, aligning orders with planned expenditure.
  • Champion the identification and reporting of hazards, evaluation or risks, and design and implementation of hazard and control measures.
  • Assist in the induction and training of all staff and maintain regular on-the-job training, with particular emphasis on personal hygiene and appearance, productivity, product knowledge, workflow, service and selling skills, appearance, attitude, and general ability to follow standard procedures.
  • Assist the HOD in planning staff working hours and overtime.
