To maintain the retail shop and generate sales by assisting guests in purchasing merchandise and recommending all products that will yield financial profitability and deliver excellent guest service.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum Grade 12 plus Higher Certificate
- 2 years’ experience in a retail shop or Sales experience in the hospitality industry
- Knowledge of merchandise, styling, and pricing
- Knowledge of Micros/Opera will be an advantage
- Computer literate (MS Office/Office/Excel/PowerPoint)
- Knowledge of Point of Sale
- Creation of Barcodes and management thereof
- General Knowledge of Swakopmund (Tours, activities, walkabouts, restaurants, shops, bookshops, etc.)
- 3rd language (e.g. German) will be an advantage
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Drive retail product sales in line with the budget and targets set.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing retail shop.
- Assist guests and/or customers as and when required, not only retail guests/customers but any other guests/customers around the hotel
- Constantly monitor and check the quality-of-service delivery towards the guests and make sure the processes are speaking to the brand and the provided quality guidelines.
- Create and generate unique barcodes for products and enter them on Micros (EMC) for accurate tracking and identification.
- Print labels with product information and prices, and ensure that these labels are placed correctly on the shelves.
- Manage inventory levels by adding products to the product mix and maintaining a monthly sales report and balance stock to avoid both excessive overstock and stock output.
- Collaborate with the financial controller to place orders for stock replenishment in the retail shop, ensuring adequate inventory levels to meet customer needs.
- Monitor the expiration dates and shelf life of perishable items to prevent selling expired products and ensure older items are rotated out before newer ones.
- Assist in monthly stock-taking activities to verify inventory levels and ensure compliance with company requirements.
- Process sales transactions, handling cash, credit/debit cards, and other forms of payment accurately and securely.
- Balance cash registers at the end of each shift and prepare daily sales reports.
