PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

To perform all operational duties within the Hot Pot & Deli department, implement required standards, and deliver excellent customer service that contributes to the store’s profitability.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• Grade 11/12 (National Senior Certificate).
• Minimum 2 years retail and/or food handling experience.

ADVANTAGEOUS

• Catering experience and a basic cooking course.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Production & Preparation

• Prepare and present all specialities timeously and attractively.
• Produce daily deli products to meet customer demand.
• Prepare customer orders on time.
• Ensure all products meet required quality and safety standards.

Merchandising

• Maintain clean and appealing displays.
• Keep storerooms and cold rooms organized.
• Apply FIFO principles and maintain bulk displays.

Pricing

• Place correct price stickers on all products.
• Check price change registers for updates.
• Ensure products scan correctly.
• Display promotional flashes on relevant items.

Sales & Customer Service

• Provide fast, friendly, and effective service.
• Assist customers with enquiries regarding products, usage, and pricing.
• Share promotional posters and communicate daily specials.
• Continuously expand product knowledge.

Stock Taking

• Prepare for stock take.
• Attend stock takes as scheduled.

Housekeeping, Health & Safety

• Uphold hygiene and food safety standards.
• Ensure equipment is set to correct temperatures.
• Clean machines after use and ensure servicing as needed.
• Switch off appliances and leave work areas hygienic at close of business.
• Filter Henny Penny oil daily.

General Duties

• Maintain confidentiality of company information.
• Assist across departments when needed.
• Report and handle incidents involving theft, accidents, or policy breaches.
• Attend required training, meetings, and workshops.
