PURPOSE
To support the Store Manager in delivering an exceptional, consistent, and safe customer experience across all Fresh departments, while driving operational excellence, food safety compliance, team capability, and strong commercial performance.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- National Senior Certificate (Grade 12) with proven retail experience
- 3–6 years’ experience in fresh food retail / food service / hospitality
- Supervisory or team leadership experience
- Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and operational standards
ADVANTAGEOUS
- Higher Certificate / NQF 5 in Retail, Food Technology, or Hospitality
- Experience managing audits, food safety compliance, and KPIs
- Strong commercial understanding (sales, waste, shrink)
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Customer Experience & Service
- Deliver an exceptional and consistent customer experience across Fresh departments.
- Resolve customer complaints effectively and professionally.
Commercial & Operational Performance
- Support sales, margin, and productivity targets.
- Monitor KPIs such as waste, shrink, and sales performance.
- Identify and implement operational improvements.
Food Safety & Compliance
- Enforce food safety, hygiene, and HACCP standards.
- Ensure compliance with SOPs, temperature control, and cleaning standards.
- Conduct regular inspections and quality checks.
Merchandising & Stock Control
- Ensure effective product display, availability, and pricing.
- Manage stock rotation (FIFO), waste reduction, and shrink control.
People Leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop teams across Fresh departments.
- Manage scheduling, attendance, and performance.
- Support recruitment, training, and development.
Store Operations
- Support opening and closing procedures.
- Ensure store readiness, cleanliness, and operational efficiency.
