PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

To operate the bread slicer machine according to prescribed standards and ensure that bread is sliced, packed, and merchandised correctly while maintaining hygiene, food safety, and customer service standards to support store profitability and customer satisfaction.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• National Senior Level Certificate (Grade 11/12).
• Minimum of 2 years' experience in a bakery, retail, or FMCG environment.

ADVANTAGEOUS

• Experience operating bakery or food-processing equipment.
• Knowledge of bakery products and merchandising standards.
• Understanding of food safety and hygiene regulations.
• Customer service experience within a retail environment.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Bread Slicing & Packing

• Slice bread according to prescribed standards.
• Pack bread and prepare products for display.
• Ensure products are correctly displayed on shelves.
• Minimise waste through the proper use and handling of equipment.
• Ensure correct pricing tickets are displayed on products.

Hygiene, Health & Safety

• Maintain bakery hygiene and food safety standards at all times.
• Clean the bread slicing machine regularly.
• Ensure the machine is switched off at close of business.
• Maintain a clean and hygienic work environment.
• Comply with all health and safety regulations.

Stock & Store Operations

• Assist with stock-taking activities when required.
• Report any damaged equipment, incidents, losses, or safety concerns.
• Adhere to company policies, procedures, and operational standards.
• Assist in other areas of the store during periods of absence or operational needs

Customer Service

• Provide friendly and professional customer service.
• Assist customers promptly and courteously.
• Ensure product displays are neat, appealing, and adequately stocked.
