PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

Holds complete responsibility for the operation of the engine room, engineering and technical facilities and any maintenance of machinery onboard the vessel.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• A Marine Engineer Officer Class 4 Certificate of competence with valid advanced safety certificates 
• Minimum of 3 years Chief Engineer experience on main engines of 1200KW or more
• Experience of at least one year on trawlers will be a definite advantage

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Plan, manage and control engineering systems
• Repair and maintenance duties as requested by supervisor
• Manning and personnel management of the engine personnel
• Safety and environmental compliance
• Manage engineering Stores and provisions
• Budgeting and cost control for the engineering section
