Purpose of Position:
As the Finance Director (FD), the primary purpose is overseeing the financial operations of the company, ensuring financial health, compliance, and strategic financial planning. The incumbent will manage all financial aspects, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and investment activities. The incumbent will be responsible for driving and owning the O&L Persona throughout the O&L Group.
Qualification(s) and Experience Required:
- Chartered Accountant
- MBA with Finance as a first degree will be an added advantage
- At least 12 years of progressive financial management experience, with at least 5 years in a senior financial leadership role.
- Proven experience in strategic planning, financial analysis, budgeting, and risk management.
- Experience in managing financial operations in a similar industry is preferred.
- Proven track record of executive leadership in finance or accounting roles.
- Experience navigating complex business environments and managing organizational change.
- Extensive experience in corporate governance, strategic planning, and executive leadership.
- Strong understanding of the fishing and/or FMCG industry
- Demonstrated ability to provide strategic guidance and oversight to senior executives.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Sound judgment and decision-making abilities.
- Experience in managing relationships with shareholders, regulators, and other stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership and Vision - Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with Hangana’s goals and objectives. Provide financial insights and recommendations to the Executive Committee. Make informed and strategic decisions to mitigate risks and capitalize on opportunities.
Operational Excellence and Efficiency - Manage and oversee all financial operations including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting. Evaluate and advise on the financial implications of potential business ventures and partnerships.
Governance and Compliance - Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and standards, including tax laws, accounting standards, and corporate governance. Oversee risk management processes, identifying financial risks and implementing mitigation strategies.
Stakeholder Management - Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including investors, board members, employees, and external partners.
Procurement and Supply Chain Management - Oversee (and give input into) the management of contracts and performance of contractors in line with policies and procedures. Oversee implementation of effective stock management systems as well as financial reports (Stock valuation, aging, turnover ratio).
Performance Management - Lead and mentor the finance team, promoting a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
Organizational Culture - Foster a positive organizational culture that promotes innovation, collaboration, and accountability.
