Purpose of Position:
To supervise and lead a team of Artisans to safely and accurately execute fabrication work to the highest level of workmanship and quality to satisfy the needs and requirements of our company and clients.
Qualifications/Key Requirements:
- Grade 12 with English, Math’s and Science
- National Trade Certificate in Boilermaking / Welding
- Minimum 6 years on the job experience in an industrial environment
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in similar supervisory capacity.
- Computer proficiency in MS Office
- Valid driver’s license
Key Accountabilities:
- Assign, instruct and lead the right people to the right tasks.
- Effectively plan, supervise and organize tasks of work teams to achieve objectives timeously daily.
- Issue Annual Performance Agreements to Artisans and conduct interim assessments on their Key Performance Indicators
- Supervise the performance of teams and manage their performance according to set company standards and procedures.
- Managing discipline according to company standards and procedures.
- Provide mentorship to team members on a regular basis with regards to technical skills transfer and working together in a team.
- Mobilize and demobilize people, equipment and material on job start up and on job completion.
- Demonstrate good leadership, people utilization.
- Create an atmosphere of accountability and consistency impacting reliability for producing extraordinary outcomes.
- Lead teams toward an inspiring future, impacting engagement, spirit and resilience
- Foster an environment where employees are free to communicate, impacting creativity and innovation.
Project Estimation and Execution
- Ensure administration such as timesheets or reports are accurately completed and submitted on time to payroll.
- Prepare estimates for labour and materials in consultation with Project Manager or Project Co-Ordinator.
- Forecast labour hours and duration of jobs.
- Control labour hours against forecast.
- Control material usage quantities on jobs.
- Report any deviation from forecast timeously.
- Report on any client related difficulties to Project Manager.
- Continuous and consistent reporting of job status and progress.
- Manage VO’s - do not perform work unless prior authorization is received.
- Conduct job feedback meetings to eliminate repeats of sub-standard performance
Productivity and Quality
- Manage labor utilization efficiently.
- Ensure labor, variations and standby time is correctly monitored and recorded
- Short-time management.
- Control timekeeping and attendance.
- Control effective use of materials and tools.
- Complete jobs without non-conformances and within agreed deadlines
- Execute jobs within budgeted costs and time allocation.
- Determine shift requirements to ensure adequate supervision on projects
- Ensure correct skills are applied to prevent reworks.
- Ensure jobs are done according to the correct specifications and workmanship.
- Complete all requested mechanical work-related reports within allocated time-period.
