PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

 

Responsible for the sharpening and maintenance of hand filleting knives; as well as to maintain the receiving, storing and issuing of production tools and equipment in the factory according to company rules and guidelines, to ensure that the end users are served on time.

 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

 
  • Grade 12
  • 2 Years knife sharpening experience
  • Fitter experience on conveyors and production lines, together with experience in a technical environment, will be an added advantage
 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Inspect, repair, sharpen, and test knives to ensure optimal cutting performance, precision, and quality standards
  • Clean/ sanitize knives.
  • Clean knife sharpening machine.
  • Replace grinding/ polishing wheels.
  • Collect knives that cannot be used anymore and remove them from the system according to replacement procedures.
  • Complete documentation daily for receiving and issuing of knives and report and replace damaged knives immediately.
  • Load, unload, clean and operate automatic Knife sharpening machines.
  • Check that tools and equipment are stored in an orderly fashion, to optimize storing space.
  • Check that the tools and equipment are packed on their designated shelves.
  • Order necessary consumables from the main store if the stock levels are low with a reservation.
  • Monitor scales for cleanliness and defects. Reporting defects
  • Clean the Storeroom every day
  • Making sure the store is well organized and everything is stored neatly and labelled.
