Purpose of Position:

To implement, maintain and administer the ISO 3834-2 welding quality management system and to act as the designated Welding Coordinator in accordance with ISO 14731. The role ensures that all welding activities are planned, executed, controlled and documented in compliance with contractual, statutory and customer requirements, thereby supporting sustainable quality, safety and operational excellence.                                                                                                                                                                                                                             

 

Qualifications/Key Requirements:

  • International Welding Engineer/Technologist/Specialist or an equivalent recognized qualification
  • Minimum 3 -6 years’ experience in welding coordination, welding engineering or welding quality management
  • Experience with ISO 3834-2 implementation and audits
  • Computer proficiency in MS Office

 

Key Accountabilities:                                                

Quality Management

  • Implement, maintain and continuously improve the ISO 3834-2 welding quality management system                                                                   
  • Perform welding coordination duties in accordance with ISO 14731 at comprehensive level
  • Review contract, customer and statutory welding requirements and ensure feasibility
  • Approve welding procedures (WPS), procedure qualifications (WPQR), welder qualifications and welding repairs                                                                      
  • Coordinate welding production activities including preheat, interpass control, PWHT and environmental controls                                                                    
  • Control welding consumables including selection, storage, handling and traceability
  • Coordinate inspection and testing activities including visual inspection and NDT
  • Evaluate welding non-conformances, approve repair procedures and ensure corrective actions are implemented                                                                   
  • Control welding documentation, records and traceability in line with ISO 3834-2 requirements                                                                  
  • Support internal, external and certification audits related to welding activities.      

 

Health and Safety

  • Adhere to company HSE policies, procedures and SOPs, ensuring a safe working environment for all personnel.
  • Complete safety task observation.
  • Complete risk assessment with a team and/or Supervisor and/or client representative on site.
  • Adhere to company and legislative Health, Safety and Environmental standards     
  • Apply and encourage good housekeeping practices.
  • Ensure proper waste management, material handling, and hazardous substance disposal in compliance with environmental regulations.
