Purpose of this Project Manager position:

To manage and drive the Windhoek Business Unit by successful initiation, planning design, execution, monitoring and closure, engaging with current and new clients to secure opportunities to ensure your business unit is sustainable.

 

Minimum Qualification & Experience:

  • Qualification in Project Management/Commercial/Technical or equivalent
  • Minimum of 4 years’ senior supervisory to middle leadership (C4-D2) experience in the Industrial/Mining industry
  • Technical Engineering Knowledge
  • Quality Assurance Management experience
  • Computer Literacy (MS Office & Projects)

 

Preferred/Advantageous:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering / Project Management
  • Construction, engineering / food-and-beverage industry knowledge and experience.
  • Knowledge of the Labour Act.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Estimating and Revenue Forecasting

  • Ensure all cost estimates, detailed plans and quotes, including additional works, are prepared accurately and submitted on time
  • Ensure supervisors understands requirements.
  • Ensure accurate forecasts and progress at WIP meetings, including cash flow.
  • Monitor and report any deviation from forecast or budget timeously in terms of schedule and budget.
  • Ensure invoices are made out to correct party and signed for on time.

 

Contract and Project Management

  • Produce project plans and continuous updating.
  • Familiar with terms and conditions of contracts and management thereof.
  • Ensure customer requirements are clearly specified and provide technical support to Foremen/Supervisors for accurate interpretation
  • Ensure forecast labour hours and duration are prepared by Project Co-ordinator with the assistance of the Foreman/Supervisor.
  • Monitor and control labour hours and costs against approved budgets and estimates.
  • Report any client related difficulties to management.
  • Overall coordination and control of project in line with resources, deadlines, profitability and standards.
  • Manage profitability of projects.

 

Planning and Management of Sub-Contractors

  • To source and contract in the most cost effective, experienced and efficient sub-contractor for the specific job.
  • Hold regular site meetings to monitor progress, update programmes, and implement 'catch-up' strategies as needed.
  • Ensure sub-contractor receives official order prior to commencement of work.
  • Check and approve all sub-contractor invoices.
  • Keep abreast with performance of sub-contractors.

 

Leadership and Management of Discipline

  • Assign, instruct and lead the right people to the right tasks.
  • Create an atmosphere of accountability and consistency impacting reliability for producing extraordinary outcomes.
  • Foster an environment where employees are free to communicate, impacting creativity and innovation.
  • Manage the performance of teams according to set company standards and procedures.
  • Handle employee grievances according to company standards and procedures.
  • Managing of discipline in the workplace according to procedures and policies.
  • Provide mentorship to team members on a regular basis with regards to technical skills transfer and working together in a team.
  • Demonstrate leadership in line with company values by fostering engagement, resilience, and an inspiring future for teams.

Ownership of Safety and Quality

  • Ensure that housekeeping and Safety in your business unit is at acceptable standards through the delegation of responsibilities to applicable supervisors.
  • Ensure that quality control standards as per contractual requirements are met.
  • Ensure that safety standards as per contractual requirements are met.
  • Attend to and address quality control issues raised by the quality control officer and escalate if necessary.
  • Attend to and address safety issues raised by the safety officer and escalate if necessary.
  • Complete projects without non-conformances.
  • Ensure accurate documentation on all projects.
  • Ensure Warranty claims do not arise from negligence / poor workmanship.
  • Ensure that vehicles, equipment, cranes are maintained and serviced regularly.

 

Customer Service and Marketing

  • Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with existing clients to ensure satisfaction and retention.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients throughout project lifecycles, addressing concerns and ensuring timely communication.
  • Conduct regular follow-ups to gather feedback, anticipate future needs, and provide project updates.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities in the industrial and mining sectors, leveraging networks and industry insights.
  • Proactively engage with prospective clients through site visits, tailored proposals, and presentations to showcase Kraatz’s capabilities.
  • Collaborate with the General Manager: Industrial to strategically target key accounts and expand Kraatz's market presence.
  • Represent Kraatz at industry forums, conferences, and client meetings, enhancing visibility and reputation.
  • Promote Kraatz’s commitment to ISO 9001:2015 standards and operational excellence to build trust and credibility.
  • Focus on retaining existing clients by addressing client concerns efficiently and providing value-driven solutions.
  • Leverage insights from project delivery to recommend internal process improvements for establishing Kraatz as a trusted partner.
  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to client satisfaction, retention, and business growth.
  • Provide regular reports to the General Manager: Industrial on client engagement activities, business development progress, and prpipeline updates.
