PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
To maintain and repair all electronic, electrical and mechanical utilities, plant machinery and equipment, according to planned maintenance schedules and ad-hoc machine breakdowns, to support process and utility efficiencies.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
- Grade 12 Certificate
- Recognised qualification as a qualified Electrician (N3) with a Trade Certificate in Electrical/ Millwright/HVAC
- 2 years’ trade practical experience
- Knowledge of Fault finding, Basic Lock Out Procedure, Safety, Basic Electrical theory, Reading of Electrical Circuits
- Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulics circuit drawings
KEY JOB OUTPUTS:
- Perform weekly and monthly inspections on machines, equipment, and factory infrastructure
- Repair identified machine faults and service machines per Preventative Maintenance schedule and manuals
- Test run machines before handover to Production to ensure functionality
- Provide feedback on Preventative Maintenance Schedules (PMS) to Superior
- Gather information from Operators on machine malfunctions and perform accurate fault finding
- Identify root causes of breakdowns and repair, replace parts, or escalate to Technician/Manager as needed
- Recommend ideas to prevent machine breakdowns
- Maintain and repair cold/freezer rooms and fridges, liaising with service providers when required
- Replace damaged circuit breakers, isolators, and repair damaged cables
- Repair water leakages and report to relevant authorities
- Maintain infrastructure as identified through audits/inspections
- Conduct scheduled maintenance on utilities (generators, HVAC, compressed air, electrical DBs, etc.)
- Conduct 5S inspections across all facilities
- Install new projects/equipment within expected timeframes and communicate shortages to stakeholders
- Provide on-the-job training to Operators on start-up procedures and basic maintenance
- Complete attendance registers and training forms for submission
- Advise Operators on correct machine use to avoid damage
- Switch off and lock out machines before maintenance/repairs
- Report safety incidents immediately to the Technical Manager
- Wear PPE at all times and follow prescribed safety procedures
- Pack up and store equipment after maintenance and maintain cleanliness
- Keep workshop area demarcated and clean at all times
