PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Incumbent is responsible for ensuring that ND current and future business operations and procedures comply with legislation, legal regulations, corporate governance and internal policies, by reviewing company policy documents, proactively assessing the adequacy and effectiveness of controls, designing and overseeing control systems/activities, performing regular audits and providing guidance on compliance matters; in order to ensure adherence/compliance to regulations in all aspects and levels of the business.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Bachelor’s degree in law, finance, business administration or related field.
Minimum of 4 years’ experience of which 2 years must be Legal/Audit related.
Professional knowledge of financial compliance and legislation.
Strong knowledge of industry processes and regulations.
Strong analytical mindset.
SAP System experience will be an added advantage.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Compliance Assessment & Risk Identification –
Research national and industry legal requirements and frameworks.
Gather information from regulatory bodies linked to industry.
Drive process to identify and flag risks and liabilities.
Review internal policies/ procedures and implementation in business operations to identify compliance gaps.
Coordinate with different departmental Managers to review all departmental specific compliance procedures and work instructions.
Risk and Compliance Custodian / Compilation and Management Of CRMP –
Develop and oversee control systems (CRMP) in conjunction with Departmental Head to prevent or deal with violations of legal guidelines and internal policies.
Audit Function –
Perform periodic audits on national, industry legal/legislated required frameworks and internal company procedures/processes.
Ensure all audit findings are addressed and actions taken where appropriate to resolve.
Monitoring and Reporting –
Regularly assess the efficiency of control systems and recommend effective improvements as appropriate.
New Compliance Developments –
Keep abreast of internal and external regulatory developments as well as evolving best practices in compliance control.
Assess the business’s future ventures to identify possible compliance risks.
Internal Compliance Culture Entrenchment –
Lead employee information sessions on legal and compliance matters.
Host training to educate internal personnel about regulations that apply to their work.
