PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
To provide Employee Relations (ER) specialist support and services to the Group to ensure value added ER services and harmonious Industrial Relations. To represent the Group at ER Tripartite forums as well as Conciliation and Arbitration Tribunals. To advise management on ER best practice and application of ER processes through research on ER trends to implement best practice within the Group.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- A Degree in Human Resources or Labour Relations Management, with a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in Employee Relations management.
- An additional minimum of three (3) years’ experience as an Employee Relations Practitioner or Specialist.
- A Diploma in Labour Studies or Alternative Dispute Resolution will be an added advantage.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and drive the Group-wide Employee Relations strategy, governance framework, policies and standards to ensure consistency and best practice across all Operating Companies.
- Serve as a strategic advisor to Group Executives and OpCo leadership on complex, high-risk ER and labour matters.
- Analyse national and industry labour relations trends and proactively identify, mitigate and manage ER risks at Group level.
- Provide Group oversight and assurance of ER investigations, disciplinary processes and case management, ensuring fair, timely and legally compliant outcomes.
- Set negotiation strategy and provide leadership in conciliation, arbitration, union engagements and collective bargaining across the Group.
- Ensure full compliance with labour legislation, including Employment Equity and Affirmative Action requirements, and drive a culture of labour law compliance.
- Build ER capability across the Group through leadership development, training and standardised ER practices.
- Manage strategic relationships with trade unions, employers’ bodies and labour authorities at Group level.
- Lead and develop the Group ER function, including performance management of ER teams and oversight of ER-related service providers and SLAs.
