PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

To provide professional and timeous Employee Relations (ER) functional support specifically to OL Fresh Otavi, Mach 10, Broll, Brand X, Next Century, Organic, Abalone Aquaculture: Luderitz, Hartlief Hilltop, Model Mega, Model Auas, Model Katutura, Model Katima within the Ohlthaver List Group of Companies; by supporting the Disciplinary action process, attending to Grievances, providing subject matter training and driving compliance and awareness of related policies, compiling and managing reports and dashboards,  representing the company at external platforms as mandated and to overall serve in an advisory capacity to management and employees, in order to deliver value added ER services and enable a healthy/sustainable Industrial Relations Climate.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Labour Relations Management or Industrial Psychology or Industrial Relations or Diploma in Labour Studies or Alternative Dispute Resolution.
  • Five (5) years’ experience in a Human Capital or ER environment of which at least 3 years should have been in an ER: Specialist level.
  • Relevant practical knowledge and experience in various Industrial Relations Practices & legislation (Labour Act, Employment Services Act, Employment Equity Act, Strike and Picketing Rules, Code of Good Practice for Conciliators and Arbitrators, Affirmative Action and SSC Acts and any other relevant Acts & Legislation) is a must.
  • Valid Drivers License (BE) is required. 

 

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Proactively drive compliance and discipline in line with ER policy and procedures.
  • Investigate and drive all ER related processes for disciplinary/appeal and grievance hearings.
  • Attend to and drive the conciliation/arbitration and substantive negotiation processes.
  • Proactively plan corrective actions and/or interventions to mitigate IR related risks.
  • Use data analytics, trends, predictive assumptions, and correlations to make improvements on future ER interventions.
  • Build the capacity of line managers to handle, investigate and initiate ER related process.
  • Facilitate AA Meetings and submit minutes to HR for AA Report compilation to the Office of the Employment Equity Commissioner.
  • Drive Stakeholder engagements with Shop Stewards and leadership.
  • Drive annual ER Awareness Roadshows.
  • Maintain and update the ER dashboards.
  • Submit ER related reports at required platforms and frequency.
  • Receive, evaluate, and respond appropriately to employee concerns.
  • Design and drive training sessions and interventions to meet employee needs and business objectives.
