PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
To promote positive employee-employer relationships and ensure a harmonious and productive work environment within the organization. They serve as a mediator, advocate, and facilitator, addressing employee concerns, resolving conflicts, and supporting a culture of fairness, compliance, and effective communication.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCES:
- Bachelor’s degree in industrial psychology or human resources with a specialization in Labour Relations
- Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience in Employee/Industrial Relations
- Sound knowledge of Namibian labor legislation including Affirmative Action.
- Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
- Valid driver’s license
KEY ACOUNTABILITIES:
- Mediate and resolve workplace conflicts, ensuring impartial and constructive outcomes.
- Lead and facilitate annual wage negotiations.
- Promote open communication between employees and leadership to foster a culture of trust and collaboration – this includes leading different communication platforms like the Prosperity meetings with the Workers Council.
- Lead and facilitate activities in line with compliance to the Affirmative Act which activities include compilation and submission of the annual Affirmative Action Report.
- Ensure employee awareness and adherence to company policies, procedures, and relevant labor laws.
- Deliver training on ER topics, including chairing and initiating disciplinary hearings.
- Provide expert guidance on the disciplinary process to all parties involved.
- Maintain compliance with Namibian labor laws and company policies during all ER processes.
- Accurately document proceedings, decisions, and supporting evidence during hearings.
- Support implementation and communication of ER-related policies and procedures across departments.
