Role Purpose
To provide strategic planning, management, and control of all accounting, finance, forecasting, statutory reporting, supply chain management, revenue assurance, and credit management-related activities and ensure compliance with OL Group financial management and reporting policies and procedures.
Qualifications and Experience
Qualifications
- Post Graduate qualification in Finance or Accounting
- Professional Registration e.g.CA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent, MBA or MBL qualification
Experience
- Minimum of 10 years' progressive financial management experience, including at least 5 years in a senior finance leadership role.
- Proven track record of executive leadership within finance, accounting, or commercial finance functions.
- Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and business performance management.
- Strong experience in corporate governance, compliance, risk management, and internal controls.
- Experience operating within complex and multi-stakeholder business environments.
- A proven track record of managing financial operations within the retail industry is required.
Role Responsibilities
Strategic Financial Leadership
- Develop and execute the financial strategy in support of the company’s goals, long-term vision, Revenue Growth and Optimisation Strategy and Vision.
- Act as strategic business partner and financial adviser to the Managing Director, Executive Committee and shareholder.
- Assess the financial implications of business ventures, partnerships, investments, mergers, acquisitions and other strategic opportunities.
Financial Planning, Reporting & Performance
- Lead long-term financial planning, annual budgeting, forecasting, cost management and scenario analysis.
- Develop financial models, commercial plans and five-year capital expenditure requirements for current and future growth initiatives.
- Monitor financial and operational performance, explain variances and drive corrective action against approved plans.
Financial Operations and Reporting
- Oversee accounting, financial and management reporting, revenue assurance, credit management, cash flow, liquidity and working capital.
- Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements, shareholder reports, tax returns and supporting analysis.
- Ensure Finance provides reliable information and effective support to all stores and functional teams.
Governance, Risk & Compliance
- Maintain financial policies, procedures, delegated authorities and internal controls that safeguard revenue, cash, inventory, procurement and company assets.
- Ensure compliance with tax legislation, accounting standards, statutory reporting, corporate governance requirements and OL Group financial policies.
- Identify financial and operational risks, implement mitigation measures and coordinate relationships with auditors, tax advisers, regulators and assurance providers.
Commercial and Property Partnership
- Maintain an active presence across the stores to understand operating workflows, commercial realities and financial-control risks.
- Translate operational insight into practical controls, standard operating procedures and policies that enable the business while protecting value.
- Partner with operational and functional leaders to improve commercial decision-making and embed consistent financial disciplines.
Treasury, Capital & Investment Management
- Manage the company’s investment portfolio and capital allocation within approved risk and return parameters.
- Oversee funding and capital-raising activities and maintain effective relationships with financial institutions and relevant external stakeholders.
Technology and Business Enablement
- Drive the company’s IT strategy and ensure fit-for-purpose financial systems, ERP platforms, data controls and reporting tools support operational and strategic needs.
People and Functional Leadership
- Lead, mentor and develop a high-performing finance team with clear accountability, succession depth and a culture of continuous improvement aligned with the OL Persona.
- Oversee workforce planning, recruitment, onboarding, performance management and capability development across the finance function.
- Foster collaboration and effective communication within Finance and across the company.
