Purpose of the Position

 

The Financial Manager will be responsible for the overall management of the Finance Department and will play a key role in planning and executing the strategic financial management of the business.

The incumbent will support sound decision-making by ensuring best financial operating practices are implemented and maintained to enable sustainable and profitable business performance.

 

Qualifications & Experience 

 

  • Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA)
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in a Financial Management position
  • Strong financial accounting background
  • Sound knowledge of internal financial controls
  • Experience within an FMCG environment will be advantageous

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Financial Management

 

  • Oversee various financial functions by reviewing financial information received from business units and incorporating this into meaningful management reports to support effective decision-making.
  • Prepare, manage, review and execute timely and accurate monthly consolidated financial results and Business Performance Review reports.
  • Manage, review and execute month-end management accounts.
  • Plan and coordinate all external and internal audit processes.

 

Cost Control Management

 

  • Review, manage, monitor and influence the process of cost control for the entire business.
  • Guide and advise Cost Centre Controllers on budgeting techniques, efficient planning and effective cost control measures.

 

Product and Project Costing

 

  • Manage, control and maintain product and project costing structures.
  • Compile financial feasibility studies for new products and projects under development.
  • Accountable for the high-level monitoring of project performance and expenditure.

 

Business Performance Monitoring

 

  • Develop and maintain financial dashboards.
  • Measure business performance against Key Performance Indicators on a monthly basis.

 

Month-End Management

 

  • Oversee that the SAP Controlling month-end procedure is executed timely and accurately within agreed timelines.

 

Capital Project Valuation

 

  • Prepare and assist with the application of capital budgeting methodologies, including NPV, IRR and buy-versus-lease analyses.
  • Critique capital project plans based on accepted financial practices.

 

Enable Financial Resources

 

  • Develop, improve and implement financial controls across the business.
  • Monitor financial control systems on a regular basis and ensure compliance with established financial policies and procedures.

 

Departmental Management

 

  • Manage the Finance Department by planning.
