PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
To provide guidance and assistance to the finance department in the processing and reconciliation of monthly financial information. To supervise the accounts payable of the departments and ensure accuracy, completeness, and validity of data. To assist the Senior Financial Accountant in the preparation of the monthly management accounts by reconciliation and consolidation of the processed financial information including trial balance status to ensure the smooth running of the financial department.
KEY JOB OUTPUTS:
· Manage the month‑end close process, prepare management accounts, and ensure all financial reports are submitted on time.
· Perform General Ledger and balance sheet reconciliations, including monthly inter‑group reconciliations and year‑end reporting packs.
· Oversee VAT, Import VAT, PAYE, Withholding Tax, and all statutory submissions, while resolving tax‑related queries with the Receiver of Revenue.
· Supervise the creditors function, including vendor management, invoice processing, reconciliations, and the full Procure‑to‑Pay cycle.
· Process and reconcile inter‑company transactions, loan accounts, amortisation schedules, and manage half‑year and year‑end confirmations.
· Manage municipal accounts, reconcile utility bills, resolve billing anomalies, and ensure timely settlement to avoid service interruptions.
· Maintain the IFRS‑compliant Fixed Asset Register, process asset acquisitions/disposals, run monthly depreciation, and support audits.
· Oversee lease and loan accounting in line with IFRS 16 and IFRS 9, including amortisation schedules and fuel card management.
· Process daily bank transactions, perform bank reconciliations, monitor cash flow requirements, and manage petty cash postings.
· Lead, guide, and coach finance team members, enforce policies, set KPIs, and drive performance and development.
· Provide general administrative and ad‑hoc finance support as required to ensure smooth department operations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
· Honours Degree in Accounting
· At least 5 years of experience in an accounting field
· NIPAM, ACCA or ICAN articles are an advantage
· SAP and Draftworx experience are an advantage
