PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

To perform all sales and merchandising duties within the Foods & Toiletries department, maintain required operational standards, and provide fast and friendly customer service for the smooth functioning of the store.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• Grade 11/12 (National Senior Certificate).
• Minimum of 1 year’s retail or customer service experience.

ADVANTAGEOUS

• Certificate in Wholesale/Retail.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Merchandising

• Collect stock from storerooms/warehouse and pack shelves according to set standards.
• Rotate stock using FIFO principles.
• Maintain clean shelves and ensure storerooms are orderly daily.
• Maintain QDVP4 standards and bulk displays.

Pricing Functions

• Place correct price stickers on products.
• Check and update price changes as required.
• Ensure all barcodes scan correctly at the tills.
• Display promotional flashes on promotional and seasonal lines.

Customer Service

• Provide fast, friendly, and effective service.
• Assist customers with enquiries on product use, prices, and stock availability.
• Share promotional posters and inform customers of promotions.

Stock Taking

• Prepare for stock takes according to set processes.
• Attend stock takes as scheduled.

General Duties

• Maintain confidentiality of company documents and information.
• Assist other departments during staff shortages or peak times.
• Report incidents (fire, accidents, theft, damage), where possible.
• Attend meetings, training courses, workshops, and seminars.
• Ensure all company policies and procedures are adhered to.
