Role Purpose

The role ensures that operational activities support sustainable profitability, service excellence, optimal resource utilization, and alignment with the O&L Persona. To design, implement and continuously improving operational efficiency frameworks, performance metrics, and KPI systems across the organisation.

 

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • 4 Year bachelor’s degree in business administration / Operations Management / Industrial Engineering / Hospitality Management 
  • Postgraduate qualification (Master’s degree/NQF Level 9) will be an added advantage.
  • 8–10+ years’ experience in a senior leadership role within Hospitality or multi-site operations
  • Operational performance management or process improvement
  • Proven experience in designing Operational Excellence frameworks and driving efficiency initiatives
  • Exposure to data analytics and performance reporting tools

 

    

Key Deliverables

 

  • Define financial, operational, and service-level metrics (e.g., cost per occupied room, labour productivity, turnaround times, guest satisfaction) 
  • Ensure KPIs are clearly defined, measurable, and aligned to profitability goals
  • Develop and drive the organization’s operational excellence strategy aligned to business goals
  • Design and implement a comprehensive KPI framework across departments (e.g., rooms, F&B, maintenance, administration)
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives using methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, or similar approaches
  • Identify inefficiencies, process gaps, and cost leakages across operations
  • Drive process redesign, automation opportunities, and standardisation
  • Monitor business performance through data analysis and reporting
  • Conduct regular performance reviews with operational leaders
  • Provide actionable insights to improve efficiency, cost control, and service delivery.
  •  Foster strategic partnerships with Hotel/Lodge Managers, Departmental Heads, and   Functional Managers to ensure operational priorities, performance objectives and service delivery   standards are aligned with organizational strategy.
  • Work closely with the General Manager: Operations to translate strategic objectives into executable operational plans, monitor business performance and address emerging risk and opportunities.
  • Train and coach operational teams on KPI management, efficiency tools, and performance improvement techniques
  • Develop and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Ensure compliance with internal standards and external regulatory requirements
  • Maintain consistency across all business units while allowing for necessary flexibility
