PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
To oversee and coordinate all microbial laboratory testing and quality control activities to ensure that dairy products meet regulatory standards, company specifications, and customer expectations. The Laboratory Supervisor ensures the accuracy and reliability of test results, maintains compliance with food safety protocols (e.g., HACCP, GMP, FSMA), and supports continuous improvement in product quality and process efficiency.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCES:
• B.Sc. Microbiology degree
• 4 years’ experience in a Laboratory, preferably in the food Industry/ FMCG environment.
KEY ACOUNTABILITIES:
• Supervise testing of all samples as per sampling plan in line with specific work instructions.
• Monitor analysis and tests done on incoming raw product, in processes, final product, non-conforming product and customer complaints.
• Ensure that all factory machine swabs, hand swabs and food safety swabs are carried out as per schedule.
• Implement and maintain digital dashboards to monitor quality trends, incorporating the relevant criteria to identify trends and missing entries.
• Send annual product samples to external laboratory for testing.
• Engage with the relevant department heads and team leaders/supervisors to identify root causes and improvement actions.
• Register NCR for all non-conforming products on the NCR Tracker
• Monitor re-sampling of all out of spec results and report timeously.
• Supervise the completion of Food Safety Check sheets, Lab results, Calibration and verification check sheets and submit report of results to Quality Assurance Manager.
• Manage inventory and purchase Lab consumables according to current stock.
• In collaboration with Quality & Laboratory Supervisor receive, document, and investigate quality-related customer complaints.
• Initiate Quality Assurance initiatives based on audit findings
• Train staff on hygiene practices, product quality handling, and SOP adherence.
