PURPOSE OF POSITION
To manage complex legal matters within the O&L Group. Reporting directly to the Legal Manager, this role will ensure compliance with legal regulations, mitigate risks, and support the organization’s objectives across various business units.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor’s degree in law (LLB) and admission as a Legal Practitioner.
• 5 years post-admission experience in labour, litigation, and commercial law.
• Ability to work independently, prioritise effectively providing pragmatic, solutions focused advice.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Legal Advisory Services:
• Provide expert advice on labour, litigation, commercial, and corporate law matters. Review, draft, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and legal documents to ensure compliance.
Risk Mitigation & Compliance:
• Identify and manage legal risks, recommend mitigation strategies, and monitor changes in legislation to update company policies. Conduct legal audits and ensure compliance across the organization.
Commercial Law & Contract Management:
• Advise on commercial law matters, including mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures. Review and negotiate commercial agreements to protect the organization's interests and support in managing complex transactions.
Litigation Management:
• Manage litigation cases, collaborate with external counsel, and represent the organization in legal proceedings. Implement risk management processes to align with the company's objectives.
Leadership & Collaboration:
• Supervise and mentor junior legal staff, collaborate with senior leadership, and provide legal training to other departments.
Strategic Contribution:
• Support the development of legal strategies, frameworks, and policies. Provide insights into emerging legal trends and their business impact.
General Advisory:
• Offer practical legal advice aligned with business needs, support decision-making, and manage relationships with stakeholders.
Documentation & Reporting:
• Prepare detailed legal reports, maintain accurate case records, and ensure secure handling of confidential information.
General & Ad-hoc Duties:
• Provide general business advice, assist during periods of absence, deliver training, and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
