Purpose of Position

To transport and collect/deliver Namibia Dairies raw materials and goods within Namibia, occasionally carrying out cross-border transportation, by driving an average of close to 3500km per trip and performing a one-drop/collection route.

 Qualifications & Experience:

  • Grade 12 certificate with minimum of 5 years in heavy-duty transportation and long-distance driving.
  • Code CE Driver’s License.
  • Valid Public Driver’s Permit (PDP).
  • Police Clearance (not older than 3 months)
  • Self-disciplined, attention to detail and reliable.

 

Preferred/Advantageous Qualifications:

  • Experience and knowledge in driving Tanker and Reefer transportation.
  • Knowledge of cold chain management in the FMCG environment.
  • Defensive Driver Certificate to operating a heavy-duty vehicle.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Operate a truck tractor-trailer/tanker combination to deliver goods and materials around the country and occasionally cross border.
  • Load and unload cargo, ensuring safe handling.
  • Plan trip logistics and obtain required documentation to transport goods.
  • Ensure responsible handling of cargo.
  • Perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections.
  • Conduct mechanical and tire control as per inspection list.
  • Ensure minimal fuel consumption and proper vehicle maintenance.
  • Perform emergency roadside repairs if necessary.
  • Record distance traveled, fuel consumption, waybill numbers, and cargo details.
  • Maintain MDC logbook and detailed records of stops and delivery timelines.
  • Regular communication and updates with dispatchers to meet delivery/collection schedules.
  • Adhere to Health & Safety regulations relevant to operating the assigned truck
  • Uphold and represent the O&L persona.
