PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
To provide leadership, direction, and operational planning and strategy execution for the Technical Department, encompassing Utilities, Processing, Automation, Mechanical, Electrical, Workshop, and HL Facilities. Additionally, offer ad hoc support to Farmer's Meat. The role further oversees the upgrade and maintenance of technical equipment to drive efficiency improvements, minimize downtime, and ensure compliance with industry standards. Moreover, manage assets, ensuring that maintenance, servicing, cost management, and operational functionality are balanced to enhance production efficiency and meet consumer demands.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical)
- 8 years’ experience in a FMCG environment, 4 years should be in a managerial role
- Experience working with food manufacturing equipment and machinery will be an added advantage.
- Registration with the Engineering council will be an added advantage
- Knowledge of SAP is added advantage/Project Management module
KEY JOB OUTPUTS:
- Provide technical leadership and expertise to optimise maintenance operations and improve equipment reliability.
- Develop and implement preventive and corrective maintenance strategies to minimise downtime and ensure maximum operational efficiency.
- Establish and maintain standardised maintenance procedures and rapid response systems for breakdowns.
- Plan and prioritise maintenance activities based on asset criticality, production demands, and resource availability.
- Drive root cause analysis and implement sustainable corrective actions to eliminate recurring failures.
- Lead and manage the maintenance team, including performance management, skills development, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Set, monitor, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to track maintenance effectiveness and support decision-making.
- Develop and manage maintenance budgets, forecasts, and cost control initiatives, including the implementation of cost-saving solutions.
- Oversee asset management, including machinery, equipment, facilities, and infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance and longevity.
- Lead and support automation, engineering design, and process improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and efficiency.
- Implement best practices such as Total Productive Maintenance and lean methodologies to improve processes and reduce waste.
- Manage contractors, suppliers, and service providers, including contract negotiation and performance monitoring.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align maintenance activities with production and business objectives.
- Ensure full compliance with HACCP, Occupational Safety and Health (OSH), and Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) standards.
- Identify, report, and mitigate safety risks, ensuring a safe, clean, and compliant working environment.
- Support audits, regulatory requirements, and continuous improvement initiatives through accurate reporting and data analysis.
