Purpose of Position:
The National Sales Manager leads the company's nationwide sales operations, driving strategic growth, profitability, and market penetration across all regions. This role ensures consistent execution of sales strategies, builds strong customer and distributor relationships, and guarantees cold chain integrity throughout the supply chain.
The incumbent is accountable for national revenue targets, team leadership, and alignment with the organisation's overall commercial objectives.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Sales, Marketing, or related field
- 10 Years of experience in FMCG sales with at least 5 years in a national or senior sales leadership role
- Proven track record in managing cold chain or temperature-sensitive products
- Experience leading large, geographically dispersed sales teams
- Strong background in both traditional and modern trade environments
Key Responsibilities:
Sales Strategy and Execution - Develop and implement the national sales strategy aligned with company objectives and market trends. Drive revenue growth across all regions and collaborate with the General Manager Sales to refine go-to-market approaches.
Leadership and People Management - Lead, mentor, and manage Regional Sales Managers and National Key Account Managers. This includes overseeing recruitment, onboarding, performance reviews and succession planning.
Customer and Key Account Management - Build and maintain strategic relationships with national retail chains, wholesalers, food service providers, and key distributors. Lead national contract negotiations, trade terms, and pricing strategies.
Cold Chain Sales and Compliance - Ensure all sales and distribution activities uphold cold chain integrity and compliance standards.
Performance Monitoring and Reporting - Track and analyze national sales performance against sales targets. Provide regular reports and insights and drive the adoption of data-driven decision making and sales forecasting.
Cross-functional Collaboration - Partner with Marketing, Finance, Logistics and Operations teams to ensure seamless delivery and support for sales initiatives. Contribute to New Product Development and innovation strategies based on customer and market insights.
