PURPOSE OF POSITION

 

The Project Manager is responsible for coordinating, implementing and executing our renewable energy projects within the contractual schedule, cost budget and according to quality requirements. The candidate will play a key technical role in the entire project life cycle, with an emphasis on planning and engineering the technical solution (comprising but not limited to PV, BESS, biomass/ diesel generators, on and off grid) and managing the construction execution and commissioning of the integrated solution and handing it over to the operations & maintenance team.   

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

 

  • University engineering degree
  • Must have at least four years of detailed engineering, in-field management, and project execution experience with large scale Solar PV Projects (>1 MW), preferably hybrid systems
  • Must have verifiable professional experience in project management including technical and financial responsibility in the C&I and Utility scale renewable energy sector
  • Experience with professional project management tools, processes and methods
  • Code 08 valid drivers licence

 

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

 

  • Managing the approval, planning and permitting process during the pre-construction/pre-financial close project development phase.
  • Discussing and negotiating technical and commercial aspects of EPC/PPA agreements with potential clients and off takers.
  • Take the lead in project planning and structuring (schedule, costs, technical solution including quality criteria e.g. performance parameters) and working closely with internal and external partners to verify the applicant’s proposed project designs.
  • Once an IPP has reached financial close, responsible for the transition to O&L EPC activities and prepare for construction begin, finalize detailed plans with internal and external engineers.
  • Responsible for delivering within the planned timelines, managing expectations and contractual obligations among third-party contractors during the EPC implementation phase.
  • Will engage seamlessly between desk and from within the field leading colleagues, external advisors, suppliers and contractors, as the project IPP nears its financial close status.
  • Responsible for the plant, equipment and services procurement process, establish relationships with suppliers, launch tender processes and archive best possible supply rates.
  • Managing sub-contractors and the construction implementation process.

  • Deliver on-time, on-budget and in quality the implementation of the plant construction.
  • Coordinate of the project handover to commercial operation and to train of the O&M contractors.
  • Beyond project specific activities, provide key technical analysis during project development phase and desk studies to validate the feasibility of both internal and third-party projects in electric and thermal renewable projects.
