PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
The purpose of this position is to ensure that all products manufactured at the factory are safe, consistently of high quality and that the entire production process complies with SANS 10330, SANS 10049, SANS 885, SANS 10156 , ISO 22000 and the Meat Safety Act (Act 40 of 2000).
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
• Degree in Food Science, Agriculture , environmental Health or Public Health.
• 1 years’ experience in an FMCG environment
• Sound knowledge of HACCP, the Meat Safety Act (Act 40 of 2000) and relevant industry standards.
• Strong computer literacy (Teams, Word,PPT,SharePoint,Onenote, Power app, Excel), with the ability to trend and analyse quality data and experience with QMS/ERP systems is an advantage.
KEY JOB OUTPUTS:
- Conduct inspections of incoming materials, pre-operational, in-process, Post-Operations, food-handling and hygiene, PRP controls, storage, dispatch activities, personnel hygiene, environmental , infrastructure inspections and maintain complete records.
- Monitor and record compliance with CCPs and associated control measures.
- Condemn or downgrade products that do not meet quality requirements in line with procedure.
- Ensure strict adherence to requirements in high-care and high-risk areas.
- Ensure hazard control measures are implemented, effectively monitored and adhered to in day-to-day operations.
- Ensure packaging, labelling and product presentation comply with final product specifications.
- Ensure the prevention, detection and control of Food Defence and Food Fraud risks are adhered to.
- Maintain and verify HACCP plans, product process flows and participate in internal and external audits.
- Lead corrective and preventive actions, close out findings and manage product holds/positive release.
- Contribute to continuous reviews of forms, procedures and work instructions and help establish new forms or SOPs.
- Communicate all deviations promptly to the operations team and regulator on site.
- Work closely with the on-site regulator to validate controls and ensure compliance to export requirements.
- Lend assistance to the Delicatessen, S&B, Factory Shop and staff canteen when required.
- Perform all duties in line with the HACCP plan, in-house policies and procedures and all applicable standards and legislation.
- All records must be accurately and completed in full and filed at the end of each shift.
