PURPOSE OF POSITION
The Rewards Manager is responsible for developing and implementing a total reward philosophy and strategy, supported by appropriate policies, that supports the Group’s strategic imperatives and values and that enables all Operating Companies and Departments to attract, retain and engage the appropriate skills. He/she is also responsible for establishing and maintaining sound Remuneration governance structures and practices to align with Board requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- A Business-related Degree with at least 10 years of relevant experience in a similar position.
- A relevant postgraduate qualification will be an advantage.
- SARA Reward Professional Designation (Chartered Reward Specialist will be an added advantage).
- GRP Certification preferred.
- Expert-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Thorough understanding of relevant acts and legislative requirements related to remuneration, benefits, and labour laws.
- Proven experience in designing and managing pay and incentive structures that align with organisational goals.
- In-depth knowledge of job evaluation methodologies and their practical application.
- Solid understanding of payroll processes and their integration with reward and benefits systems.
KEY RENSPONSIBILITIES
Rewards Strategy and EVP
- Analyse business requirements to develop and implement a comprehensive Total Reward philosophy, strategy, and policy that aligns with the company’s overall strategy, Human Capital value chain, and enhances the Employee Value Proposition (EVP).
- Evaluate, recommend, and implement changes or exceptions to reward-related policies to ensure competitiveness, compliance, and alignment with best practices.
Rewards Management
- Design, review, and maintain salary scales in line with market trends, affordability, and annual CPI adjustments, ensuring internal equity and external competitiveness across the Group.
- Research and monitor reward trends and market practices to guide strategic decisions on the company’s positioning in the labour markets it operates in.
Governance
- Serve as a resource person for the company’s Remuneration Committee, drafting and collating all submissions for Remco meetings.
- Prepare and present reward-related submissions and presentations to the Executive Committee (EXCO).
- Develop and submit proposals to internal stakeholders concerning salary increases and bonus processes.
Group Reward Services
- Research and recommend long-term and short-term incentive schemes, or other reward-related programmes, engaging EXCO for approval and implementation.
- Analyse complex information from multiple sources to develop proposals addressing reward and remuneration challenges, including monitoring salary spend, benefits, and their impact on Human Capital metrics.
Central Payroll Management
- Conduct monthly payroll review and approval for O&L Centre, management, and executive-level employees, ensuring compliance with all relevant policies.
- Collaborate with the Payroll Operations & Systems Manager to streamline payroll processes, reduce errors, remove single-person dependencies, and ensure strong governance.
- Manage the budget for the Reward function and team, ensuring financial control and alignment with organisational priorities.
- Oversee change management for new reward initiatives, products, policies, and processes, ensuring smooth implementation and adoption across the organisation.
