PURPOSE OF POSITION
The purpose of this position is to provide accurate reporting to the Companies under our control, while ensuring technical compliance in terms of IFRS, taxation and Companies Act.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Degree in Financial Accounting, or a related field, with a minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience in Financial Accounting.
- Strong professional knowledge of finance and accounting principles, acquired through tertiary education and relevant practical experience.
- Advanced MS Excel proficiency, with the ability to analyse financial data and prepare accurate reports.
- Sound knowledge and practical understanding of taxation and related financial requirements.
- Experience with Draftworx and SAP will be an added advantage.
- NIPA certification will be an advantage.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Financial Reporting & Control
- Manage accounting and SAP processing for assigned entities, including asset additions/disposals.
- Prepare monthly management accounts, BLR reports, General Ledger and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Compile half-year and year-end reporting packs in line with Group standards and deadlines.
- Prepare Annual Financial Statements on Draftworx and verify intercompany balances.
- Coordinate external audits and annual property valuations.
Compliance & Governance
- Liaise with Company Secretarial on required resolutions, agreements and related documentation.
- Prepare solvency and liquidity tests and ensure compliance with IFRS, taxation and the Companies Act.
- Monitor legislative and IFRS developments and advise on required corrective actions.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Cash Flow
- Compile annual budgets, forecasts and monthly cash flow projections.
- Monitor and actively manage cash flow, including preparation of regular cash flow schedules.
- Process daily banking transactions and receipts, monthly bank reconciliations and petty cash.
Taxation
- Prepare income tax, deferred tax, provisional tax, VAT, PAYE and withholding tax returns and calculations as required.
- Liaise with the Receiver of Revenue and attend to income tax and VAT audits and queries.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with applicable tax legislation and keep abreast of taxation changes.
Creditors & Procure-to-Pay
- Support the Procure-to-Pay process by creating timely SAP purchase orders in accordance with procurement procedures.
- Process creditor payments through online banking and manage weekly employee expense claims.
Debtors & Intercompany
- Process monthly invoicing and actively follow up outstanding debtors to ensure payment within agreed terms.
- Collect outstanding amounts from OpCos and ensure monthly intercompany balances are confirmed and reconciled.
Professional Advice & Support
- Research and resolve technical accounting, IFRS, Companies Act and taxation queries.
- Prepare complex accounting entries and provide financial advice and recommendations for projects, cost optimisation, tax planning and effective accounting practices.
- Perform any other duties as reasonably required.
