PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

 

To manage and oversee the full operations of the Shop & Bistro by applying sound business principles, service excellence, and strong people leadership to ensure profitability, efficiency, and sustainability of the store. This includes both strategic management and operational execution of administration, systems, and customer service.

 

KEY JOB OUTPUTS:

 

  • Maximize sales turnover and gross profit through effective merchandising, pricing, and customer service.
  • Minimize costs, expenses, and stock losses through efficient controls, system utilization, and workforce planning.
  • Be accountable for achieving monthly, quarterly, and annual budgeted targets.
  • Implement innovative business initiatives to drive revenue growth and breakthrough results.
  • Ensure compliance with QDVP4 standards and food safety regulations.
  • Be accountable for stock rotation (FIFO) and inventory accuracy.
  • Oversee and manage all administrative duties, including reconciliations, record-keeping, banking, invoices, and reporting.
  • Manage business operations in line with company policies, procedures, and statutory requirements.
  • Ensure effective use and control of operational systems (e.g., Abaserve, Jarrison).
  • Lead, motivate, and inspire employees to achieve service excellence and business goals.
  • Oversee employee scheduling, payroll input, attendance monitoring, and timekeeping systems.
  • Facilitate weekly forums, team meetings, and continuous communication to build engagement.
  • Provide training, coaching, and on-the-job guidance to develop staff capability.
  • Enforce discipline and address employee relations matters in line with company policy.
  • Demonstrate care, empathy, and fairness when managing people.
  • Oversee housekeeping and equipment maintenance to ensure safety and efficiency.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal/external stakeholders.
  • Ensure consistent service excellence, quick response to complaints, and customer satisfaction.
  • Represent the Shop & Bistro in community and business partnership initiatives.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration/Management, Retail Management, or equivalent.
  • At least 5 years’ retail/hospitality managerial experience.
  • Strong knowledge of customer service, store management, administration, and financial controls.
  • FMCG experience is required; exposure to the Meat Industry will be an added advantage.
  • Computer literacy (MS Office Package, Abaserve Suite including AbaTrade, AbaPOS, AbaRetail, AbaDeboning).
  • SAP Systems experience will be an added advantage.
  • Code B Driver’s License.
